Mechanics, a branch of physics, describes the effects of FORCE on bodies at rest or in motion. Particles and solids are studied in DYNAMICS and STATICS, gases and liquids in FLUID DYNAMICS, astronomical bodies in CELESTIAL MECHANICS, and subatomic phenomena in quantum mechanics.
