{in-tur-puh-lay'-shun} Interpolation is the process of determining the unknown value of a FUNCTION between known values of the function. The simplest method, which is usually sufficiently accurate, is linear interpolation, in which it is assumed that the behavior of the function may be approximated by a straight line through the known points.
