The henry is the SI unit of INDUCTANCE, named in honor of the physicist Joseph HENRY. If the self-induction of a circuit (or the mutual induction of two circuits) is 1 henry, then a uniform change in the current of 1 amp/sec induces an electromagnetic force of 1 volt.
