Constant
From Encyclopædia
A constant is a quantity whose value, under specified conditions, does not change. Some constants never change: they remain fixed under all conditions. Much of modern
science, and
physics in particular, is based on the assumption that certain physical quantities are constants. The velocity of
light, the gravitational constant, PLANCK'S CONSTANT, and the BOLTZMANN CONSTANT are all examples of fundamental constants (see
ATOMIC CONSTANTS).
