Central

Central is an administrative region in the middle of
Scotland. Its area is 2,631 sq km (1,016 sq mi), and it has a population of 268,000 (1991). The River Forth has created a valley in the center of the region, which is otherwise mountainous. The highest point is Ben More in the northern
Highlands, reaching 1,171 m (3,843 ft). Central was formed in 1975 from parts of the former counties of PERTH,
Stirling, and West
Lothian (see
LOTHIAN), and all of
Clackmannan.
