Aaron
From Encyclopædia
Brother of MOSES, Aaron was Moses' spokesman before Pharaoh and was his assistant during the Exodus from Egypt. Even though Aaron was involved in constructing the GOLDEN CALF that the Israelites worshiped while Moses was on Mount Sinai, he and his sons were appointed priests, with Aaron as high priest. He was also designated head of the LEVITES, ministers of lower rank, and his authority was miraculously confirmed by a flowering staff (Exod. 28-29, 32; Num. 8, 17-18). Aaron died before his people reached Canaan.
